Membership Benefits

There are a number of benefits to joining ASH. Society members receive:
  • A print and online subscription to Blood, which is published 24 times per year. Blood is the leading journal worldwide in reporting basic and applied hematology research. In addition, a special issue of Blood containing the proceedings and abstracts of the ASH annual meeting is published in November.

  • All annual meeting mailings, including the Program and Abstracts Book, in advance, as well as dramatically reduced registration rates, priority hotel reservations, and access to rooms at headquarter hotel(s).

  • Eligibility to sponsor abstracts and Scholar Award applications.

  • Access to Consult a Colleague, an online service that allows ASH members to submit clinical questions to respected colleagues who are knowledgeable in specific areas of hematology.

  • Society publications, including Hematology (the Education Program Book), The Hematologist, ASH NewsLink, and the membership directory, as well as access to the members-only section of the ASH Web site.

  • Advocacy and representation before the U.S. Congress and other governmental agencies, with the ASH Grassroots Network becoming an increasingly important voice promoting the interests of hematology researchers and clinicians.

Membership Categories and Applications

Applications for Active and International membership are considered by the Executive Committee each April and December. Once the applications have been approved, new members will be notified of their selection and invoiced for their dues. Applications must be received by March 1 for consideration in April, or by August 1 for consideration at the annual meeting in December. Please note that Active and International applications received by August 1 will not be approved prior to the annual meeting. They will be approved during the annual meeting and memberships will begin the following January. Applications for Associate membership are considered on a rolling basis and are not subject to the aforementioned deadlines. Prepayment is not required to apply for ASH membership. Applicants will invoiced upon approval.

Active
Membership Dues: $225

An individual with a doctoral degree (or its equivalent) who is a permanent resident of any North American country (Canada, Mexico, or the United States) and who has manifested a continuous interest in any discipline important to hematology, as evidenced by work in the field, original contributions, and attendance at meetings concerning hematology, is eligible for Active membership. To apply for Active membership, please print and mail the Membership Application to the Society's Membership Department at ASH Headquarters.

International
Membership Dues: $245

An individual with a doctoral degree (or its equivalent) who has made a significant contribution to the field of hematology and resides outside Canada, Mexico, or the United States may be elected to International membership. To apply for International membership, please print and mail the Membership Application to the Society's Membership Department at ASH Headquarters.

Associate
Membership Dues: $50

Post-doctoral fellows with an MD or an equivalent medical degree who reside in Canada, Mexico, or the United States and are enrolled in an approved hematology or oncology training program are eligible for Associate membership. Students who receive a PhD degree, are within four years of having attained the PhD, and are in a post-doctoral position or a training program in a hematology and/or oncology-related field are also now eligible for Associate membership. Associate membership concludes the December following completion of the fellowship program or after a maximum of four years, whichever comes first. Subsequently, the Associate membership is automatically converted to the Society’s Active member status. To apply for Associate membership, please print and mail the Associate Membership Application to the Society's Membership Department at the ASH Headquarters.

Membership dues are paid annually and cover the calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. New members will be invoiced by ASH once their application has been accepted. ASH members are required to renew their membership for each year in succession. Members who let their membership lapse must pay their dues for the lapsed year(s) or reapply according to the schedule above in order to have their membership reinstated.

All the funds contributed to ASH through this program will go toward strengthening our training, education, and scientific programs.

Please fill out the Corporate Friends Program Participation Form and mail it to ASH. If you have any questions about this program, please contact the ASH Development Department.
